<section>On most of my phones I install a custom OS - last time I did this, it was a fork of LineageOS. I haven't on my current phone just yet due to this technically voiding the warranty - and it's seriously annoying for the average user.
At least developer mode is relatively accessible, but I'm a bit horrified with the recent changes Google has done to Android versions on its own systems (the Pixel phones) to encourage users to spend more money on them, and/or obfuscate systems so users know less and less about what their phone is doing 'under the hood'. Throw in a bunch of shitty AI options on top of this and it basically feels meaningless to even recommend an Android phone over an iPhone anymore, and with this update the main useful point of Android for the average user will be moot.
I wonder what other kind of measures Google will introduce to their phones to make the process of installing your own android OS even more difficult?</section>
